A Nerdy Girl’s Guide to a 5AM Morning Routine

Waking up at 5AM every day might sound like something straight out of a training montage—you know, the kind where a hero pushes through exhaustion to become their most powerful self. But let’s be real: I’m not out here lifting boulders or training with the Avengers. I’m just trying to wake up, get myself together, and survive the day like a functioning human being.



My morning routine is a mix of self-care, caffeine, and low-key procrastination—with just a sprinkle of nerdy vibes to keep things interesting. So, if you’re looking for a way to level up your mornings (or at least feel like you’re starring in your own slice-of-life anime), here’s how I do it.


 

Step 1: Rise and Shine (or at Least, Rise 😅)


My alarm goes off at 5AM sharp, and I do the hardest thing I will do all day—get out of bed. I won’t lie, there’s always that internal struggle, like:


🛌 “Five more minutes won’t hurt…”

“Nope, you’re an adult. Get up.”

🛌 “But…sleep…”

“DARK ROAST COFFEE AWAITS.”


And that, my friends, is what finally gets me moving.


 

Step 2: Shower & Skincare – The Ultimate Buff

Once I’m up, I jump straight into the shower—because nothing says “ready to conquer the day” like washing off the sleepiness. Then comes my personal skincare side quest, aka lathering up like I’m about to step onto a runway.


💧 Body: Jergen’s body lotion—because hydration is the key to glowing like a magical girl transformation scene.

🌞 Face: A power duo of Vitamin C serum and Pond’s face cream, ensuring my skin stays radiant (even if my soul is still waking up).


At this point, I’m moisturized, glowy, and at least 5% more awake. That’s progress.


 

Step 3: Getting Dressed & Taking Care of My Tiny Overlords


Once I’m feeling fresh and fancy, it’s time to get dressed and take care of my two furry supervisors (aka my cats).

🐾 Step 1: Feed them—because if I don’t, they will act like they’ve been starving for centuries.

🐾 Step 2: Scoop their litter box—because no one wants to come home to a crime scene.


By the time I’m done, my cats are happy, and I’ve successfully fulfilled my daily NPC duties as their loyal human servant.


 

Step 4: Coffee & Breakfast – The True Power-Up

Now, onto the most important part of my morning: coffee. ☕


Rules of My Coffee Ritual:

✔️ It must be dark roast—none of that light roast nonsense

✔️ It must be strong enough to wake the dead

✔️ It must be consumed immediately


While the coffee brews, I make my light but satisfying breakfast:

🥯 Rice cake (a nice, crunchy base)

🍍 Fresh fruit (usually pineapple or raspberries)

I’d love to eat something more elaborate, but let’s be real—it’s 6AM, and my stomach is still booting up. Heavy breakfasts? Absolutely not. I’m keeping it light and simple.


Once breakfast is done, I take my meds—because responsible adults keep their health bars full.


 

Step 5: Makeup or Chill? (Spoiler: It’s Always Chill 😂)

At this point, I have two options:


💄 Do my makeup and get extra cute

🛋️ Chill on the couch and stare into the void until it’s time to leave

Guess which one wins every time? 😂


I’d love to be one of those people who do a full glam look every morning, but most days, I opt for the protagonist-in-a-slice-of-life-anime aesthetic—aka looking effortlessly cute while doing absolutely nothing.


So, I sit back, scroll through my phone, sip the last of my coffee, and just vibe until it’s time to leave for work. No regrets.

Not every morning routine has to be about grinding, optimizing, and waking up at 4AM to run a marathon (unless that’s your thing—no judgment!). Sometimes, a good routine is just about feeling put together, taking care of yourself, and making sure your day starts on the right note.


For me, that means:
